Dit blijkt uit een <a class=\"markup--anchor markup--p-anchor\" href=\"https:\/\/www.rivm.nl\/bibliotheek\/rapporten\/020022001.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-href=\"https:\/\/www.rivm.nl\/bibliotheek\/rapporten\/020022001.pdf\">onderzoek<\/a> van het Rijksinstituut voor Volksgezondheid en Milieu. Maar slechts 4 op de 10 werkgevers neemt daadwerkelijk preventieve maatregelen om de mentale gezondheid van hun werknemers te ondersteunen.  <\/p>\n<h3>Voorkomen is beter dan genezen<\/h3>\n<p>Vaak vinden werkgevers beleid dat gericht is op geestelijke gezondheid belangrijk zodra er een probleem is. Bijvoorbeeld een afwezige werknemer. Dit zeggen <a class=\"markup--anchor markup--p-anchor\" href=\"https:\/\/www.rivm.nl\/bibliotheek\/rapporten\/020022001.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-href=\"https:\/\/www.rivm.nl\/bibliotheek\/rapporten\/020022001.pdf\">deskundigen<\/a> op het gebied van geestelijke gezondheid. De focus ligt dus op het genezen van de klachten van mentale gezondheidsproblemen op de werkvloer, in plaats van op het voorkomen van deze problemen door mentale gezondheid te allen tijde te bevorderen.   <\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"graf graf--pullquote\"><p>Een <a class=\"markup--anchor markup--pullquote-anchor\" href=\"https:\/\/www.trouw.nl\/opinie\/voorkomen-is-beter-dan-genezen-maar-wordt-veel-slechter-beloond~b7bac8bd\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-href=\"https:\/\/www.trouw.nl\/opinie\/voorkomen-is-beter-dan-genezen-maar-wordt-veel-slechter-beloond~b7bac8bd\/\">artikel<\/a> van Trouw schetst de paradox van preventie: &#8220;Juist als een preventieve maatregel goed werkt, lijkt hij overbodig. En als een rampscenario is voorkomen, denken mensen dat het ook zonder had gekund.&#8221; <\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p class=\"graf graf--p\">Hetzelfde onderzoek dat eerder werd genoemd, suggereert dat de reden voor werkgevers om niet te investeren in de geestelijke gezondheid van werknemers een gebrek aan inzicht is in de effectiviteit van de maatregelen en de kosten en baten. Werkgevers vinden de financi\u00eble aspecten van mentale gezondheidsbevordering ook veel belangrijker om rekening mee te houden in tijden van economische crisis. <\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" Volgens HBR hebben werknemers met een burn-out <a class=\"markup--anchor markup--p-anchor\" href=\"https:\/\/hbr.org\/2019\/12\/burnout-is-about-your-workplace-not-your-people\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-href=\"https:\/\/hbr.org\/2019\/12\/burnout-is-about-your-workplace-not-your-people\">2,6 keer<\/a> zoveel kans om actief op zoek te gaan naar een andere baan, <a class=\"markup--anchor markup--p-anchor\" href=\"https:\/\/hbr.org\/2019\/12\/burnout-is-about-your-workplace-not-your-people\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-href=\"https:\/\/hbr.org\/2019\/12\/burnout-is-about-your-workplace-not-your-people\">63%<\/a> meer kans om een ziektedag op te nemen en <a class=\"markup--anchor markup--p-anchor\" href=\"https:\/\/hbr.org\/2019\/12\/burnout-is-about-your-workplace-not-your-people\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-href=\"https:\/\/hbr.org\/2019\/12\/burnout-is-about-your-workplace-not-your-people\">23% <\/a>meer kans om de spoedeisende hulp te bezoeken. <\/p>\n<p class=\"graf graf--p\">Verzekeraar Zilveren Kruis <a class=\"markup--anchor markup--p-anchor\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nrc.nl\/nieuws\/2017\/06\/19\/kosten-van-burn-out-bedragen-60000-euro-11172164-a1563696?_ga=2.241628235.857097287.1631527024-33495580.1631527024\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-href=\"https:\/\/www.nrc.nl\/nieuws\/2017\/06\/19\/kosten-van-burn-out-bedragen-60000-euro-11172164-a1563696?_ga=2.241628235.857097287.1631527024-33495580.1631527024\">beweert<\/a> dat een burn-out de werkgever gemiddeld 60.000 euro kost. Bij elkaar opgeteld lopen de kosten van burn-out op tot <a class=\"markup--anchor markup--p-anchor\" href=\"https:\/\/www.tno.nl\/nl\/over-tno\/nieuws\/2020\/11\/verzuimkosten-door-werkstress-lopen-op-tot-3-1-miljard\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-href=\"https:\/\/www.tno.nl\/nl\/over-tno\/nieuws\/2020\/11\/verzuimkosten-door-werkstress-lopen-op-tot-3-1-miljard\/\">3,1 miljard euro<\/a> per jaar voor het Nederlandse bedrijfsleven. In de Europese Unie bedroegen de kosten van depressie voor werkgevers <a class=\"markup--anchor markup--p-anchor\" href=\"https:\/\/www.euro.who.int\/__data\/assets\/pdf_file\/0017\/348011\/Fact-sheet-SDG-Mental-health-UPDATE-02-05-2018.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-href=\"https:\/\/www.euro.who.int\/__data\/assets\/pdf_file\/0017\/348011\/Fact-sheet-SDG-Mental-health-UPDATE-02-05-2018.pdf\">272 miljard<\/a> euro in 2013.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"graf graf--p\">Aan de andere kant toont <a href=\"https:\/\/www.euro.who.int\/__data\/assets\/pdf_file\/0017\/348011\/Fact-sheet-SDG-Mental-health-UPDATE-02-05-2018.pdf\">onderzoek<\/a> van de WHO aan dat elke euro die in geestelijke gezondheid wordt ge\u00efnvesteerd, 4 euro voordeel oplevert. Kortom, investeren in geestelijke gezondheid is altijd de moeite waard.
